I am a Counsellor, Respiratory Specialist Physiotherapist and Certified Breathwork and Pranayama teacher. I have over 15 years experience as a Physiotherapist in the NHS, including as Team Lead Physiotherapist for the Asthma & Airways Centre at the North West Lung Centre. In this role I helped people to recover from over-breathing (hyperventilation), which I’ve found to be a big component of many panic attacks.

I have since been using my breathwork knowledge in my Counselling practice, to help clients to reduce anxiety, anger and panic.

As I spoke with my colleagues about the results I was seeing with breathwork, they told me that they wanted to offer it to their clients too. I was asked to set up a training course so that I could share my knowledge of breathwork with them. This was how Breathing for Calm began.

Hi, I’m Nicola Pott.

My Motivation

My aim is to provide accessible high quality breathwork training for Counsellors and Psychotherapists. I believe that completing the right breathwork training helps Counsellors and Psychotherapists to provide truly effective, safe breathwork for their clients.

" The training was excellent, clear and very well-paced." " I really liked the clear and well-explained section on polyvagal theory, made it very accessible to me, where I've struggled to fully get it in the past. And I loved doing all the breathing exercises, and the chance to give feedback, talk to other participants."
